Napranum: An Indigenous Community Celebrating Sustainable Change

Sometimes your work can lead you to the most inspiring places and people. For Dynamic Exchange director Annalise Jennings, the far north Queensland community of Napranum is one of those places, and Maryann Coconut is one of those people.

Annalise began working in Napranum in 2011, when the council engaged her to help establish a visionary plan by and for the people.

It’s that catchy tagline from the Lord of the Rings movies but when I visited Paroo Shire recently, I came away with one word to rule them all: PASSION.

Remember, there are two sides to every story

Earlier this week, I came across an article published in The Sydney Morning Herald that really took me aback.

The article explores the cycle of negativity in Aboriginal communities. While a reader may feel as though the article aims to highlight the suffering taking place within these communities, as someone who has spent so much time with indigenous people, the article really saddened me.
